In 2014 Ian’s study leave took him to America to explore the relationship between slavery and song. There he met and interviewed African Americans who had family connections with the slave era or Civil Rights movement, and learn about the thousands of slave songs which were revived at that time to strengthen resolve of the black community in its fight for freedom and justice.

The lecture will be followed by a brief A.G.M. Of Dunblane Churches Together.
